On 11 May 2026, a commemorative plaque was officially unveiled at the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw following the Museum’s recognition with the EuChemS Historical Landmarks Award 2024.

The ceremony celebrated the Museum’s outstanding contribution to preserving and promoting the scientific legacy of Maria Skłodowska-Curie, one of the most influential scientists in history and a pioneer of modern chemistry and physics.

Located at 16 Freta Street in Warsaw – the birthplace of Maria Skłodowska-Curie – the Museum is dedicated to communicating her life, discoveries and enduring impact on science to the wider public.

The EuChemS Historical Landmarks Award recognises sites of exceptional importance to the history of chemistry in Europe. Previous award recipients include the Grotthuss Laboratory, the Justus Liebig Laboratory and the Ytterby Mine in Sweden.
