The symposium “From Molecule to Material”, held at Technische Universität Wien, marked the 80th birthday of Professor Ulrich Schubert and celebrated his outstanding contributions to chemistry and materials science.
The event brought together chemists and scientists from across the community to recognise Professor Schubert’s outstanding contributions to organometallic chemistry, sol-gel science, inorganic-organic hybrid materials, porous materials, transition metal oxoclusters, and functional molecular materials and nanostructures. His scientific work has had a lasting influence on materials chemistry and continues to shape research across related fields.
The celebration also highlighted Professor Schubert’s important role in the international chemistry community. He served as President of the Austrian Chemical Society and as President of EuChemS from 2012 to 2014, contributing significantly to the strengthening of EuChemS governance and institutional foundations. He has also served as a panel member of the European Research Council.
On behalf of EuChemS, Professor Wolfram Koch, EuChemS Vice-President, congratulated Professor Schubert and acknowledged his exceptional contribution to science and to the European chemical sciences community.
EuChemS warmly joins the chemistry community in congratulating Professor Schubert on this milestone birthday and in recognising his exceptional scientific achievements, mentorship, and enduring contribution to European chemistry.
