How do we address PFAS in Europe – balancing risks, uses and possible alternatives?
On 5 March, EuChemS brought this important discussion to the European Parliament during a policy workshop on PFAS, kindly hosted by MEP Dimitris Tsiodras.
The workshop created space for an open, science-based exchange on PFAS uses, their impacts, and the challenges around regulation and substitution, contributing to the broader EU policy debate.
Thank you to our excellent speakers:
🔹 Christos Vasilakos (European Parliament)
🔹 Angela Agostiano (EuChemS)
🔹 Floris Rutjes (EuChemS)
🔹 Maria Spyraki (European Chemicals Agency)
🔹 Martin Scheringer (ETH Zürich)
🔹 Ruxandra Cana (Steptoe LLP)
🔹 Takayuki Nakamura (Fluoropolymers Product Group)

Event was organised by the EuChemS Secretariat: Nineta Hrastelj and Katarzyna Szafrańska.
Bringing together science and policy is key to navigating complex topics like PFAS – and this discussion was an important step in that direction.
