The sixth edition of the European Commission’s flagship European Research & Innovation Days brought together policymakers, researchers, and business leaders to discuss and shape Europe’s research and innovation priorities.
The two-day programme featured over 20 sessions covering Europe’s competitiveness, industrial leadership, and strategic research initiatives. Discussions included the Startup and Scaleup Strategy, the European Life Sciences Strategy, the AI in Science Strategy, and the European Innovation and European Research Area Acts. Through high-level panels, interactive breakouts, and networking sessions, participants explored the links between policy decisions and real-world impact across the European research and innovation ecosystem.
Highlights included a keynote address by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and opening remarks by Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva. Leading voices from EU institutions, science, and industry also contributed, including Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and science communicator Lucy Hawking.
The event provided attendees with insights into Europe’s evolving research landscape, opportunities for collaboration, and discussions on how policy can foster innovation, competitiveness, and societal impact.
