The analytical chemistry community recently met in Barcelona for Euroanalysis 2025, the European Conference on Analytical Chemistry. From August 31st to September 4th, more than 700 participants, including researchers, industry leaders, and young scientists gathered under the compelling theme: “Analytics 5.0: Answering Societal Challenges.” The event focused intensively on how cutting-edge analytical knowledge and methodologies can be strategically applied to address the world’s most pressing sustainable development goals.

Organized by the Catalan Chemical Society (SCQ), in the scope of the activities promoted by the Division of Analytical Chemistry of EuChemS (DAC-EuChemS), Euroanalysis 2025 had a very intensive program with 21 keynote lectures, 257 oral presentations (97 of them from young participants) and ca. 420 posters. Top experts in the field delivered six plenary lectures, with two of them given by the DAC-EuChemS award recipient, Prof. Günther Gauglitz from the University of Tübingen, and by the Robert Kellner lecture awardee, Prof. Elia Psillakis from the Technical University of Crete. Special sessions were promoted by DAC-EuChemS task groups, focusing on traditional and emerging topics as diverse as imaging, education, sample treatment, chemometrics, bioanalysis, and 3D printing in analytical chemistry.

Euroanalysis 2025 was held in conjunction with the XXIV Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Chromatography and Related Techniques (SECyTA), which significantly contributed to the breadth of scientific communications and with active participation from the Spanish scientific community. Last but not least, the latest advances concerning commercially available instruments, devices and consumables were shared with attendees through exhibitors and sponsors, including Shimadzu, Restek, cmc Instruments and LNI Swissgas. This successful conference will be followed by Euroanalysis 2027, which will take place on September 2027 in Dubrovnik (more information at https://euroanalysis2027.hkd.hr/).
