From 20–22 March 2025, the European Young Chemists’ Network (EYCN) held its Delegate Assembly in Prague, uniting young chemists from across Europe. As part of EuChemS, EYCN continues to offer a platform for early-career chemists to exchange ideas, develop skills, and collaborate.
The event opened with welcoming speeches from EYCN Chair Claudia Bonfio, Organising Committee Chair Petr Leinweber, and EuChemS President Angela Agostiano, who emphasised the importance of supporting young chemists and promoting collaboration across Europe. A highlight was the introduction of candidates for the next EYCN Board, where delegates discussed future plans for the network’s growth.
EYCN’s collaboration with Elsevier featured two workshops on leadership and teamwork, providing delegates with essential skills for their future careers. The assembly also focused on the upcoming EuChemS Chemistry Congress 2026 (ECC10), ensuring that young chemists will play an active role. Furthermore, Angela Agostiano and Chiara Capodacqua from EuChemS led a session on the 10th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, offering insights into EU funding opportunities.
One key session presented EuChemS’s latest survey on employability, highlighting the challenges young chemists face in entering the workforce. This sparked important discussions on improving career support.
The assembly concluded with the election of the new EYCN Board.
EuChemS congratulates the new board members and looks forward to working together to support the next generation of chemists in Europe.
