EuChemS is excited to announce a series of flagship events in 2026, showcasing the breadth and depth of chemistry across Europe and highlighting the community’s commitment to responsible, socially conscious science.
1. EuChemS Global Women’s Breakfast
EuChemS will host its online Global Women’s Breakfast focusing on the theme “Shaping responsible chemistry: The strategic role of women in Europe.” This event will spotlight the pivotal contributions of women in chemistry, from strengthening interdisciplinary communication and fostering collaboration to linking scientific advances with societal needs.
The webinar builds on the spirit of the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast 2026, Many Voices, One Science, and reflects the Guiding Principles of Responsible Chemistry, emphasising two key areas: Communication & Collaboration and Convergence Across Disciplines. Participants will gain insight into the significant European contributions to global responsible chemistry, while celebrating the impact of women in shaping a more inclusive and ethical scientific landscape. Register here.
2. Policy Workshop on PFAS – Risks, Uses, and Replacements for a Sustainable Future
EuChemS will organize a focused policy workshop at the European Parliament addressing PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), their associated risks, current applications, and potential sustainable replacements, particularly in fluoropolymers. This workshop will provide a platform for policymakers, researchers, and industry representatives to engage in solutions-oriented discussions. Detailed information will be announced in the coming months.
3. Historical Landmarks Award 2024 ceremonies
EuChemS proudly recognises outstanding contributions to the preservation of Europe’s chemical heritage with the Historical Landmarks Award. The 2024 awards will be celebrated at two iconic venues: Banská Štiavnica (Selmecbánya), Slovakia, and the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw, Poland. These ceremonies honor the historical and cultural legacy that continues to inspire chemists across the continent.
4. ECC10: The 10th EuChemS Chemistry Congress
The Royal Flemish Chemical Society (KVCV) will host the 10th EuChemS Chemistry Congress (ECC10) from 12–16 July 2026, at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center Antwerp (FMCCA) in Belgium. ECC10 promises an outstanding scientific program, featuring world-leading plenary speakers, invited talks, short oral presentations, and poster sessions.
Since its inception in Budapest in 2006, the EuChemS Chemistry Congress has traveled across Europe, providing an exceptional forum for networking, knowledge exchange, and interaction with celebrated researchers. ECC10 continues this tradition, offering attendees a platform to engage with cutting-edge science and connect with peers from across Europe and beyond.
Abstract submissions are now open! Don’t miss the chance to contribute, submit your abstract by 20 January 2026 here.
EuChemS invites the chemistry community to participate in these events, celebrating scientific excellence, responsible innovation, and the rich history and diversity of European chemistry.
