The European Commission has launched an updated version of its Horizon Results Booster, now called the “Booster,” to assist EU-funded researchers in transforming their innovations into practical solutions. Running until 2028, the Booster initiative aims to help researchers maximise the impact of their work, moving beyond academic publications to ensure that research results contribute to society, the economy, and the environment.
Iliana Ivanova, the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, emphasised the importance of initiatives like the Booster in helping researchers bridge the gap between discovery and application. She noted that EU-funded researchers produce transformative results each year with significant potential for societal benefit. To fully unlock this potential, she stated, it is essential to spread knowledge of key discoveries and innovations, as well as support their uptake and use. The Booster provides free, targeted coaching for Horizon Europe beneficiaries, helping them develop business plans, risk assessments, dissemination strategies, and other tools to maximise the impact of their work.
The Booster is available to all Horizon Europe participants, offering support regardless of the project’s level of technological readiness or scientific discipline. Whether the goal is to bring an innovation to market, share findings with policymakers, or identify opportunities for further applied research, the Booster provides tailored services to help researchers achieve their objectives. In addition to facilitating the use of research results, it also helps increase the visibility of these outcomes, making it easier for businesses, policymakers, and other potential users to discover impactful findings.
